All of our dogs undergo genetic testing and joint screening to ensure that they have no heritable problems and are approved for breeding.

Huck carries a special genetic history. His father, Gateway’s Nothin’ But Trouble of Belquest Conclusion, is the winningest English Labrador in the history of the breed. Nothin’ But Trouble has multiple Champion and Grand Champion titles in America and Canada, and he has been named the #1 Labrador Retriever in the USA. We are so grateful to have one of his sons as one of our prized sires.

Huck takes after his father in multiple ways. First, Huck has the signature bright coat and dark features that we have come to love in yellow labradors. He is distinguished by his well-placed, muscular shoulders and level, stocky body carriage. He has a particularly soulful expression and he holds your gaze with a sense of interest and intelligence.

Second, Nothin’ But Trouble came by his name honestly – he was a slow-maturing labrador with energy to spare. Huck was the same; he had a strong appetite for adventure well into his adulthood and even at seven years old, he still enjoys chasing a ball. He is far from tireless, but more athletic than the average English Labrador.

Huck’s puppies carry these features, with particularly beautiful faces and stocky bodies. We tend to breed Huck with mellow, soulful females to balance his athleticism, producing puppies with a desire for companionship and a range of athletic abilities.
